MobileBurn.com – The Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch is the first version of the Galaxy S II smartphone to be available from a major US carrier. It features a couple of upgrades over the original Galaxy S II that we reviewed earlier this year. Namely, the screen is now 4.52 inches across, though it is still a WVGA, Super AMOLED Plus unit (which is no bad thing). The Epic 4G Touch sports a 1.2GHz, dual-core Samsung Exynos processor and 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and has the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. On the back is an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and the front is home to a 2 megapixel camera for video chats. The rear camera can record video at 1080p HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution. Sprint will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on September 16 for 9.99 with a new two-year agreement. Question by Mona Lea: Samsung Galaxy 551 or Samsung Wave 525?
I’ve already been watching some of the reviews of these phones but I wanna know which one is better. The smartphone or the android phone?

It seems like it comes down to the operating system. Android 2.2 or bada OS? Android 2.2 is a proven operating system considered the most stable operating system besides maybe iOS. bada is an interesting concept, but it seems late, buggy, and overall not worth it. I’d go for the Galaxy.

Question by Becky H: Which is better- Samsung Omnia 2 or Blackberry Tour?
Trying to pick my first smartphone and can’t decide. Both got great and horrible reviews on Verizon site. My main interests are aps, checking email and easy texting. Have an env now and like the qwerty. Both phones are free right now.

Question by Tejhummer: Can someone please explain the android OS and will the 2.3 OS be able to be instaled on the samsung captivate?
i dont understand. you know how the iphone 3g can only support the 3Gs OS but not the 4 OS is the android OS the same or can you install any android OS on the samsung captivate

Android is Google’s operating system, built around openness and customizability. That’s the brief on Android. For more information, look at Google’s own Android site.

The Captivate will likely be updated to 2.3 because it’s based on very similar hardware to Google’s new flagship device, the Nexus S. While it does depend on AT&T and Samsung’s own agendas, there’s a good chance it’ll see Gingerbread, and likely Honeycomb (the next planned update) as well.

If you’re feeling up to the task, it’s also possible to run 2.3 on your Captivate now by rooting it and installing a ROM ported from the Nexus S. Instructions can be found on the XDA Developers forum.

Question by Raien Swiftwood: If i’m a first time Android user, is the Samsung Captivate a good phone?
I’m looking to get a new Smartphone on AT&T’s network. Should I just get the iPhone4, or do I try Android and the Captivate? I know nothing about Android and all the flaws I read in reviews, are from people who know Android inside and out.
