Question by John: If i get the motorola droid will i be able to upgrade to the android 2.2 OS?
I’m thinking about getting the Motorola Droid, I know it was released with an Android 2.0 OS. Will the newer phones already have the new OS installed on them? Will I be able to upgrade to the 2.2 OS or even the 2.1? This is the phone I want, not the Incredible, not the X. Please don’t give me other phone suggestions.
Thanks!

As soon as it is activated it will auto-update to 2.1, or even come pre-installed with 2.1. And yes, the Droid is slated to get the 2.2 update, as soon as within the next month or so.

Is it possible to change HTC Smart’s OS from Brew MP >> Android OS? If Yes, How?

Question by DrumFX: Is it possible to change HTC Smart’s OS from Brew MP >> Android OS? If Yes, How?
I currently have a HTC Smart phone that runs on Brew MP Mobile Platform, however now I’m sick of it as it is useless and really slow. I’ve had a look on Android based phones, and I thought if I could change the Operating System from Brew MP to Android? If Yes, how could I do this? Please Help, it Would be Brilliant…
Thanks..

Answer by Seylan
Sorry, but there is NO way you can do that….
The HTC Smart has very basic and outdated hardware…so even if you were able to change to Android, it will run VERY slow…much slower than how Brew is running. Since the Smart is low on specs, not many hackers will even think of porting Android onto it.
If you really don’t like the Smart, you going to have to change your phone. But remember all budget phones aren’t very good, even Android ones…I suggest you buy a good mid-range smartphone, and make sure you read professional reviews of it before buying.

Android OS – how do I remove icons from the front of my phone?

Question by wabi-sabi: Android OS – how do I remove icons from the front of my phone?
I have a phone with Android. I have an icon for YouTube on the front(desktop? I know that’s not the right word for it…) that I would like to remove(the icon, not the app itself). Does anyone know how to do this without deleting the app itself? I still want the app accessible in the menu of apps, just not on the front of my phone.

Best answer:

Answer by Bunhash
You should be able to simply press your finger onto the icon and hold it there a moment. The option to delete it should pop up. This will only delete the icon, not the app. ^.^

Since it is open source, one can get the code and compile it themselves to get the software, right?
